Abstract |
Purpose The purpose of this study is to test its effectiveness by producing and providing videos on emergency medical services to subjects who use the emergency room.
Methods This study is a non-equivalent control group no-synchronic design's quasi-experimental study to verify the effect of information provision through the development and provision of emergency medical service guidance videos on the subject's emergency medical service satisfaction, communication satisfaction with nurses, and the subject's anxiety. This study was conducted on patients using the emergency room of B General Hospital, and statistically processed the questionnaires of 50 experimental groups and 50 control groups.
Results There were a significant changes in the mean values for satisfaction with emergency medical services (1.15 vs -0.06, p<.001), informational communication style (0.97 vs 0.01, p<.001), friendly communication (0.98 vs 0.01, p<.001), and anxiety (-0.59 vs -0.15, p<.001) between the experimental and control groups, respectively. The experimental group that was provided an emergency medical service guidance video showed higher satisfaction with the use of emergency medical services informational communication style, friendly communication type, and lower anxiety than the control group. Providing emergency medical service guidance videos has a positive effect on increasing emergency medical service satisfaction and nurses' communication satisfaction; it also contributes to reducing anxiety. Repeated studies at various institutions are needed in the future.
Conclusion The emergency medical service guidance video provided higher satisfaction with emergency medical services, informational communication, and friendly communication, as well as lower anxiety, compared to traditional brochure service guidance. |
